Our history | Le Gravillas

Who are we ?
The Cave Coopérative du Gravillas was founded in March 1935 in Sablet by a handful of winegrowers who wanted to join forces to make wine from their own production.
At the end of 2020, after 85 years in business, Le Gravillas merged with the Coopérative Agricole Provence Languedoc. This alliance marks a new beginning for Le Gravillas and a brand-new activity for CAPL, which is keen to diversify while preserving the interests of its members.

To date, the Cave activity represents some fifty members for a production of 8 to 10 thousand hL of pure wine appellations on 250 hectares.
The village of Sablet is known as a "winegrowers' village", and Le Gravillas resonates in the hearts of all Sabletains. A bit like a historic monument, they take pleasure in coming and tasting wine in their village cellar. The Gravillas cellar is a mythical cellar, part of the extraordinary landscape surrounding the village of Sablet.

Le Gravillas uses traditional vinification methods for its crus and villages. Thanks to the different capacities of the vats, Le Gravillas is able to make a parcel-by-parcel selection, adapting daily to the input;
The harvest is segmented into 2 parts: one part done by hand and the second done by machine. Production is mainly made up of appellation wines, 80% of which are top-of-the-range.

At Gravillas, the winemaking profession has been handed down from generation to generation. But Gravillas is also: a history, a name, an appellation, terroirs, men, women, employees and winemakers, but above all a family winery!
